Canoe Creek Band Education

The Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation Education Department, through quality leadership and services will create education and training opportunities by:

  • Assisting students to access post secondary education for the purpose of obtaining a degree and thereby pursuing a career and contribute to the achievement of the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation self reliance and sustainability.
  • Ensuring a commitment to education and training in such a way as to maintain our Secwepemc cultural and traditional values, and by supporting those pursuing education and training to maintain a balance of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical well being.
  • Providing the necessary financial, career and advisory services to our members.

The Education Department will carry out its mandate by way of a Post-Secondary Education Policy that meets the needs of the community in areas of their choice in professional and technical development.

The Canoe Creek Band will be a self sufficient community in the future, and we see education as a method to ensure it. Education guarantees a better foundation for us and our community for generations to come.

Here is the new common Education Policy for the four NStQ communities.  This also includes Application forms, Budget Template, Continued Assistance forms, and Applications for Appeal.

If you have any further questions regarding any of these forms or completing required forms for attaining Education Funding and the full process, please contact Darlene at the Education Office at (250)-459-2276
