70 hours bi-weekly

Job Summary

 

Under the supervision of the Head Start Coordinator the Head Start Assistant will be required to provide healthy snacks and lunches and assist in coordinating activities for students in a classroom environment encouraging positive self-esteem, achievement and personal education success with parental involvement.

 

Education:

  • Head Start Certificate preferred*
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Food Safe Certificate *
  • Pediatric First Aid Certificate *

       * (SXFN is willing to provide training)

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones, filing, photocopying, making notices and posters
  • Prepares menus
  • Creates a shopping list for the upcoming period of food supplies by estimating quantities and keeps records of food use for budget monitoring
  • Prepares and serves lunch and snacks considering nutritional content and variety
  • Prepares snacks and/or food for outings as required
  • Works cooperatively with the Head Start Coordinator to encourage the active participation of all parents in the program.
  • Supervise children during Head Start Coordinator lunch break and office time
  • Other duties as assigned or required

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license

 

Salary: As per company salary grid: this position is Pay Grade 3 $12.85 – $16.27 per hour
